As there are many types of traveling nurse career paths, those with a specialty within psychiatry are not excluded from this area. There are multiple listings that can be found to cater to ones desire with this job listing, but it does seem that becoming one with an actual recruiter will have the optimal options available to them. There is even the ability within the sub-specialty to further be diverse with focus on substance abuse or even geri-psych as this is becoming increasingly popular as the baby boom generation moves into late life. There is unfortunately a lack of desire for a facility to obtain sub-specialty with the general recession that is even affecting the funds given for mental health.

A person with chemical substance abuse issues might be in the same group of a person dealing with bi-polar disorder. Regardless of this fact, there is no cut backs noticed on psychiatric traveling nursing careers, but not really requiring the added education one might have. Traveling nurses in general do make a considerably amount more than that of a stable in-house RN. They get opportunities to go to different areas of the country with paid travel expenses and furnished apartments to reside in till their proposed work schedule is completed.

This is obviously less then optimal for a RN that has a family at home requiring their presence, but does give great opportunity to those that are single and wish to travel a bit before settling down. There are agencies that should be looked into that are local to your area if you do wish to be a traveling nurse, but not to leave the comfort of your home. This could be treated like a regular stable job in which you return to your own home at the end of the day, but just not necessarily going to the same job site.
